How we can help with LGBTQIA+ issues.
Understanding and coming to terms with our sexual identity or gender is not always easy. Unfortunately, expressing our diversity can be taboo, even illegal, in many places around the world. How are people in the LGBTQIA+ community, supposed to navigate through it all? I don’t remember learning about non heteronormative relationships in school, growing up. Do you?
Being othered, or being rejected, are universal fears.
All this can cause a lot of anxiety for a person, especially if they don’t have a support system. It takes a lot of strength to share how we feel, or how we see ourselves, in a society that, still rejects people who break the societal mold. We cannot always articulate how we feel to a friend or family, when the idea of sharing those thoughts and feelings with someone else is terrifying.
