Going back to the office after working from home, has been a source of stress for people.
It is absolutely natural to experience a bit of stress at the thought of leaving the safety of our home offices, when we have become so accustomed to them. It’s been a shock to the system for each and everyone of us, but it is important to recognize when worry starts to hinder our lives and our well-being.
We hear about anxiety all the time.
People use it very freely to describe how they feel on a day to day basis.
“ Going to the shops gives me anxiety.”
“ I’m so nervous right now. I’m riddled with anxiety.”
Keep in mind that there is a big difference between feeling stress, and suffering from anxiety due to the return to the office
We have all learned to cope with stress differently. Some of us cope better than others and some are more triggered than others. Especially when we have had to face extremely stressful situations which we had never dealt with before, because the past two years have been a succession of unprecedented moments
We have had to adapt to a different lifestyle, a different way to work and a new way to socialize.
We were taught to cross the street and to stay away from fellow human beings, but now we have to leave our new normal behind, and to go back to the way things were. It is no surprise that there is a dichotomy between our rational and emotional brain.
